A Letter to My Daughter on the Evening of Elections 2016
A Letter to my Daughter on the Evening of 2016 Elections
November 8th, 2016
I sit here asking myself what will I say to my daughter tomorrow.
What would I say to myself right now? What would I say to myself?
I would say this isn’t the end. This is just the beginning. There are some battles in life that are hard fought and not won. It doesn’t discredit the effort, the work, the fight, or the person. It just means that the world wasn’t there yet. That it had a bit more growing up to do.
It just means that finding your Light and spreading it is more important than ever. It means we need to rise for more permanent change. We need to fix things from the ground up not —the top down. We need to heal on a cellular level. We need to walk outside tomorrow and live our talk every day and every way, not just one way, not just one day.
We need to BECOME the change— on a daily basis, on a moment to moment basis.
I pledge to become this change. I pledge to not rest until this Light has flowed to EVERYONE, not just the people that agree with me or see my point of view. I will shine my Light so bright there will be no room for darkness in my community.
I will speak out. I will make change happen and I will do it with love, compassion and understanding.
I will show my daughter that she WILL be heard, that she IS equal and that she DESERVES the right to shine her light bright however she feels fit to shine it.
I will not give up tomorrow. I will not give up tonight. For my battle has just begun. And there’s millions of people who agree and millions more who I get to lead into the Light of Understanding, the Light of Compassion, the Light of Love.
Either way, tomorrow is just the beginning.
