21 Day Intentional Social Media Challenge

21 Day Intentional Social Media Challenge

Creating a Sacred Social Media Space

November 13, 2016

Before we start our 21-day challenge on Intentional Social Media Posting, let’s define what that means and why it’s important that we do it.

In Light is the New Black, Rebecca Campbell says, “Just as your thoughts create the world, our collective energy creates THE world. Thanks to social media, this collective energy can now spread even more quickly…”

Let’s take a moment and think about this.  What have you seen lately on Facebook and other social media outlets?  I’ve seen fear.  I’ve seen hate.  I’ve seen panic and anxiety.  I’ve seen cruelty.

However, I’ve also seen love, kindness, compassion, and understanding.  I’ve seen Lightworkers pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and start posting positive things, inspiring things, and hopeful things.

So that’s our job on this challenge.  We need to shift the tide of fear and hate.  We can start by posting one thing each day that inspires everyone of us to step into the Light — no matter what their beliefs are.

We also need to take it a step further — and here is where the “challenge” part of challenge comes in:  We need to disconnect from all the garbage out there.  We need to redirect our attention completely.  This means no arguing in comment sections, no posting things that can incite fear in others.

Where our attention goes energy flows.  With all of those “what if” articles out there, every time we read one our energy flows to those paths.  Cut off the flow.   Stop letting social media tell you what you think and feel and take time by yourself to really figure out what you actually think and feel.

Suggestions for the Challenge:

  • Post one thing on social media each day that is inspiring and hopeful.
  • Get off of social media for the rest of the day after posting.
  • Go out into REAL LIFE and do something kind or helpful in your local community.  Maybe it’s a random act of kindness or a smile or wearing a safety pin to show your are an ally — what you do is up to you.
  • Reach out to people who may feel afraid or upset right now through private message or a phone call or text and let them know that you care enough to take a moment and tell them personally that you see them, you hear them, that you care, that you are a safe place and that you are their ally.  You will stand with them and be their voice when they may not feel like they have one.  Urge them to reach out to you.  Check in on them every few days to make sure they still feel safe.

Together we can make our Social Media a Sacred place, a safe place, a place of inspiration, and a place of hope.

If you want to really get the energy focused use these hashtags when you post on your own page:  #sacredsocialspace or #positiveposts.  Then, when you are feeling down or discouraged or maybe a little lost all you have to do is click on that feed for some inspiration to keep going.
