Day Sixteen: The Present Moment

Day Sixteen: The Present Moment

21-day Intentional Social Media Challenge

The present moment is something that we often try to escape. We label it “boring” or “uncomfortable”. We long to be somewhere else, doing something else. But in each of these “present moments”, we are building our future. We are creating our next moments, now.

I want you to stop right now and check in with yourself. What are you creating at this moment? Is your future based in fear or acceptance? Anger or joy? Suddenly there is so much weight put on the now.

We can’t afford to let our moments pass by us or push them away, longing for the past or future. We need to be fully present. We owe it to ourselves and our loved ones to be here and to be aware of what we are doing and saying.

Make an effort to connect today. Connect to yourself. Connect to your feelings. Connect to your surroundings. Be where you are.

Only in the present moment can we change our future. Only in the present moment can we make a difference.

The quote comes form an article about mindfulness during times of conflict. It does address the US election. However, I feel like the information it covers is extremely valuable for everyone in any situation. http://www.vox.com/science-and-health/2016/11/22/13638374/buddhist-monk-mindfulness
