Joy: May 2016 Soul Journey Reading

I’m doing things a bit differently this month. Spring (and the Sun’s appearance here in Alaska) is causing me to want to spice a few things up and make some changes. Even the monthly reading couldn’t escape it!

May Soul Journey Reading: Joy

May Soul Journey Reading: Joy

Normally, I do a reading about how the energies are playing out for the month, but, honestly, you can find that anywhere. This month, I asked my Guides if we could work on a Soul Lesson for the month, with each individual week having a supportive and different focus, or facet, to that overall lesson. It’s a mini-reflective or a mini-class.

There are many ways to use this guidance. You can journal more deeply about what it means to you and how you can make those changes. You can use these ideas as themes for your meditative work. However you feel you want to incorporate it is completely up to you. I’ve offered some ideas under the assignment section to get you started. Please feel free to ask questions or share your experience with us! Since this is a new layout, let me know if you’d like to see any tweaks or changes to it to better facilitate you. Hopefully, this will become a monthly offering. Enjoy!

The Oracle Deck used this month is called The Mother’s Wisdom Deck by Niki Dewart and Elizabeth Marglin. Check out their website here: .The entire deck has beautiful lush images that focus around mothering wisdom. The book’s focus is on mothers and advice or guidance on how “mother with soul.” As you can see, you don’t need to use the cards just for mothering topics, but that is the book’s focus.

A word of advice: Often when we start to work on a Soul Lesson, like this month’s Joy, we immediately think, “Ok, now I will just work on being happy all month and I’ll learn about this lesson.”  Yes, that is one way, I suppose. However, Soul Lessons have many aspects and although experiencing Joy is an important part about learning about Joy, also experiencing the opposite—in this case Suffering—helps us to learn about Joy because of the ABSENCE of it.

Now, I don’t want you to just go out and suffer all month. What good would that do any of us? But, since we are working on Joy, the shadow self of Suffering could arise so that you can understand and clear it. Don’t be afraid if it comes up. Embrace those feelings with love and compassion and go with the flow. And if suffering doesn’t arise? Well, don’t think the process isn’t working. It is! You just didn’t need to experience suffering to learn what you personally needed to learn about Joy.

This Month’s Soul Lesson Focus: Joy~Hummingbird/Suffering When was the last time you experienced true Joy? Children experience it every day through the little discoveries that they make. Joy over a finding a special rock or trinket. Joy over the blooming of dandelions. How then can we access this childlike joy? Finding awe in the little things would help. Getting out in nature for a walk to appreciate the sounds and signs of Spring.

How important is Joy in your life? Do you make it a priority to experience a little joy over something everyday? Do you wake up in the morning with the intent that you will have joyous moments? Most of us don’t remember to take the time to do so. How would your life change for the better if you made point to experience joy and spread joy to others?
This month’s focus is learning to return joy to our lives and more fully understand the Soul Lesson of Joy. We will release any suffering that could be holding us back and make space for joy. Each week will focus on one aspect of your self that will support the final goal of truly understanding and incorporating joy into your daily life.

I’ve posted a few questions so you can gauge your progress. Answer them now before you begin and then again at the end of the month. Did your understanding or outlook shift?

This month’s Before and After Questions:

  • What does Joy mean to you?
  • How do you currently incorporate Joy into your life?
  • Do you find it easy to incorporate Joy or hard? Why?
  • How do you spread Joy to others?
  • What does suffering mean to you?
  • In what ways do you sometimes suffer?
  • How do Joy and Suffering compliment each other and allow a fuller understanding of the concept of Joy?

I also included a crystal in this reading to act as a helping energy.  Prehnite is this month’s crystal. It helps with Spiritual Growth and connecting to the Guides that surround you. As you move through the month, you can buy a small piece of Prehnite to help you with your journey or you can find a picture of Prehnite and use that. Set your stone or picture next to where you will be working with your journal or reflective work. It will help you with your connection to the Angels and your Guides while you do your Soul Work. It’s also known for helping you declutter, which will come in handy as you start to look at areas in your life that keep you from experiencing Joy.
