Time For a Nap, No Place Like Home, A Higher Power

Summer is fast approaching and shouldn’t be about about go, go, going or do, do, doing. Summer offers a unique opportunity to slow down and really enjoy what’s happening around us. I asked Spirit what we all needed to focus on this summer to really make the most of the season.

  • Rest and Recharge: Don’t underestimate the healing power of rest and rejuvenation. It was a highly emotional and intense winter for many people. Everyone needs a moment to recover. Now is the time to focus on re-energizing yourself, not going until you drop. This means don’t overfill your schedule. Instead, create free space where you don’t have anything scheduled—you can just be. This is super important for those of you who have children, as well. They need the space to let their imagination and creativeness blossom. If their time is filled to the brim with activities, they won’t get the recharge they desperately need after a long school year. Summer is also the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors and get into nature. There is no better battery charger than Mother Earth herself. Nature grounds us, fosters our creativity, and allows us to connect directly to Spirit. Take advantage of it while the weather is beautiful.
  • Be Comfortable with Who You Are and Where You Are: Relax into yourself. It’s not about fixing this or that and making big changes. It’s about being comfortable with who you are and what you are doing right now, in this moment. Be in the “moments” of summer. If you’re sitting on the patio with iced tea then really be at home in that moment. Listen to the birds, enjoy the breeze, the flavor of the tea. Settle into it. If you’re at the beach, don’t be on your phone. Close your eyes and listen to the waves or feel the heat of the sand on your feet. Be at home in each moment and activity you do. Drink it up and relax into it. Don’t let these moments pass you by because you are distracted by something else.
  • Tap into a Higher Power: See the Divine in everything you do. Create the space for a Higher Power to come into your life. Make sure you take time to find awe in the little things: a rock, a bee, a flower, watching a child play with bubbles. It’s these moments that we feel closest to Source. If we are too busy to stop and notice these things, we lose our connection to our intuition and to Spirit. This summer, incorporate mediation or prayer into your daily schedule. Find the quiet moments—make the time— where you can really feel the connection to a Higher Power.

By focusing on these areas, you will be able to make the most of what Summer has to offer rather than feeling like time flew by and wondering where the season went!
