Be the New Beginning

Celebrate the Mess: Weekly Reading

I am hyper aware of my flaws and my short comings. Someone gives me a compliment and I have to fight the urge to say “Thank you…but…”. No matter how hard I try as a mother, at the end of the day I find myself thinking, “I could’ve done so much better. I should’ve done this instead. I should’ve had more patience.” When asked to think about my past or stroll down memory lane, my mind immediately goes to the not so stellar moments and choices I made. We can be so critical of ourselves and what we consider to be our weaknesses or flaws. We focus on them with a sense of loss, sadness, and defeat. However, we don’t have to be uncomfortable with these moments and challenges. We need to embrace them and give gratitude to them. Yep, that’s right—this week Spirit wants you to celebrate those flaws.
